Grammy Award Winning
Audio Engineer Neil Citron chooses SLS Audio.

“Imagine watching one of the most
seasoned professional audio engineers in the country light up with
excitement while listening to one your products. Even with the
ridiculous ambient noise floor of the 2010 NAMM Show, Grammy Award
winner Neil Citron could easily recognize that he was listening to
something very different”, said Jeff Lowry Director of Sales and
Marketing for SLS Audio.
“I’ve got to have some of these”
Citron said. “I’ve always loved the sound of a ribbon, but these are
something special, different than the other ribbons I’ve heard. What
do we have to do to get these in my studio?”
Roughly two-weeks after the show Citron ordered and received his
pair of SLS Audio’s S8R’s, the unpowered version of the PS8R’s.
Within a week he had this to say about his new monitors. “I wanted
to let you know just how much I love the
SLS S8R speakers! I'm mixing a
band I'm also producing from Atlanta and usually I live with the
mixes for a week to make sure all is good. That's when the SR8's
showed up, so I thought I'd put them up and see what the mixes
sounded like as is. The guitars and vocals needed EQ and Volume
changes as well as the bass sounding low and almost invisible. I
could hear the subtleties that weren't apparent in my previous
setup. I made the changes and listened to both versions in my car.
The SLS mixes sounded the same as I heard in my studio but the others that I
thought I would be happy with sounded flat, dull and small. These
are the speakers I have been looking for forever!!”
Citron, who received a Grammy Award for his mix of No
Substitutions by Steve Lukather/Larry Carlton has worked in the
film and recording industry on a wealth of high-profile projects
assisting the talents of such artists as; Steve Vai, Greg Bissonette,
Virgil Donati, Mike Mangini, The Yardbirds, Joe Satriani, Temple of
Heads and Quiet Riot. In addition, Citron’s accomplishments include
either engineering, editing or writing for such works as Tom Hank’s
That Thing You Do, HBO’s Sex in the City, Sony/Playtone
Record’s My Big Fat Greek Wedding as well as Sony’s
Soundtrack The Truth About Charlie and Oprah Winfrey’s
Their Eyes Were Watching God.
“Having Neil so excited about our products is a wonderful
statement,” said John Gott, President of SLS Audio. “It seems that many of the recording and audio industry veterans
agree that the SLS Audio’s
planar ribbon technology reveals many subtleties that make their
efforts more productive and deliver a finished product with more
accuracy and detail.”
